Our journey started with deep industry roots, beginning with retail brokerage at Broll Property Group and an invaluable partnership with Louis Peens, the renowned architect and founder of Keystone Investments.
These foundational experiences shaped our understanding of the property landscape and instilled in us the values of innovation, excellence, and unwavering commitment to client success. Over 26 years, we have evolved from a small property firm into a comprehensive solutions provider, but our core mission remains unchanged.

Hey there! I’m Mark Berman, and I’ve been working in the commercial property scene since 1993. From leasing and sales to design, development, management, and project management, I’ve pretty much done it all. Oh, and I even designed a Property Development Master Class for a training company because sharing is caring, right?

Professional Experience:
Early Days: My entrepreneurial spirit kicked in at thirteen with a business in the music industry. After national service, I worked in my dad’s clothing factory for three years before starting my own clothing business.
Keystone Investments:
Partnered with Louis Peens in 1995, diving into architecture, design, and property development. Led leasing and managed projects like Morone Mall and several bank buildings.
SoundRock Property Consultants:
Co-founded with Melissa in 1998. We’ve tackled major projects, including Gugulethu Square, Palm Springs Mall, Inkwazi Mall Malelane, Bushbuck Ridge Shopping Centre, Broadacres Shopping Centre and Nonenzi Mall amongst others.
Property Management:
Set up a property management company, handling a portfolio worth over a billion Rand.
Recent Ventures:
Assisting in redevelopment projects for various property funds.
Developing properties with MXN Developments, and leasing retail developments for African Alliance.
We are also developing residential units in the affordable housing space, as well as mini-industrial units.
Set up a bi-weekly networking event attended by over 250 people.

Personal Information:
Born and raised in Johannesburg, my entrepreneurial journey started early. From the music industry to clothing and finally finding my groove in property, I’ve kept things interesting. I love running and have completed several half, full, and ultra-marathons, including the Comrades Marathon, Om Die Dam Ultra Marathon, and The Two Oceans Ultra Marathon. Photography is another passion of mine. I love writing with light and have taken many courses to hone my skills.
Closing:
With a career spanning over 30 years, I’ve concluded thousands of leases, sold numerous properties, and built billions of Rands worth of buildings. I continually expand my knowledge and stay updated with current trends. My mission is to empower those around me by sharing what I’ve learned, which is why I collaborate with The South African Property Investors Network and EmpowaWorks SASFIN, AMPD Studios and other organizations to deliver podcasts, seminars and workshops. Helping people is my absolute honor, and I’m thrilled to support people and organizations with similar goals.
